i pray to something not god not satan
i dont believe in that no i think people
believe in that for they simply need
something to blame or to connect
the missing dots…
that we may never find in this life
or in the many other skins people say we wear
i don’t believe in that either i think they crave
the idea of immortality that in some way
they’ll keep on like the dots that never end.

Rose this gives the eternal question of spirituality. For one to pray one needs to know why they are doing it and to whom they are praying to. Too often people only do it in cases of despair. Being spiritual (which is not the same thing as Sunday School) should be a constant thing, in all weather.
Great stuff.

Hi there to all
There was a bit of a technical problem with the comments box, but it appears to be resolved, and I will place the hammer I brought from the kitchen junk drawer back in the drawer until the next time I might need to make a point with my computer.

Wallace Stevens said that literary poetry itself IS prayer now.
Emily Dickinson said, “I never saw a moor, / I never saw the sea, / Yet I know how the heather looks, / and how a wave must be. / I never spoke with God, / Nor visited in heaven; / Yet certain am I of the spot, / as if the chart were given.”
She also refused to go to church starting when she was a teenager, which was unheard of in her day and age and place, especially for a girl and then woman.
I think literary poetry is also a vast, living dialogue between all the poets who ever lived. And that doesn’t mean every poet needs to read every poet, since many poets bring the echoes of other poets along with them who we ourselves will never actually read and then we absorb them and in our turn return the favor, etc.
THAT is what poetry is about. NOT awards or prizes or fame or even publication.
You are a real poet!

I like this. Writing as conversation with those who’re up above our heads, so to speak.

Great title for this piece too, great use of the line, and great use of the (non)capitalization…

It is unavoidable to want the answers; it’s a true equalizer that we’ll never get them.
