THERE WHERE WINGS ARE FOLDED
THE SILENT SOUND OF THE SUN’S CENTER
IS SEEN,
IS SEEN,
GOING, GLEAMING.
…

STREET WALKERS WALKING THE STREETS
HOLY HANDS OF THE MINSTRELS
IN THEIR OWN PRIVATE INFERNOES
124,000 STRONG
WHO SING
THEIR OWN SONGS.
…
LITERATE SOCIETY IS
MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO
TALENTED MONKEYS RUNNING THE CIRCUS NOW
ALL MY DAUGHTERS AND SONS.
…
WHEN FICTIONS LIKE THESE
BEGIN TO OPERATE AS REALITIES
WITH HUMBLE HUNGRY HIGHWAYMEN
GOING THEIR WAYS, ECSTATIC MEDIEVAL FEMALE
SAINTS REJOICING IN PAIN, IT IS TIME NOW
TO BATHE IN MY SEAS OF THEIR MYSTIC RESIGNATION.
GOOD FRIDAY IS COMING TODAY.
…
BUT CAN YOU FEEL THE INVISIBLE RING
AROUND THE PEBBLE
IN THE PALM
OF MY HAND.
…
AND
YOUR TREMBLING EARS
AND PURIFIED EYES
SO YOU SHALL
WALK FORTH
STRUT FORTH
AND STRIVE INTO THE SILENCE OF
IT:
THE FURTHER BEYOND.

You take stunning photographs, Dale; they are a story unto themselves.

Thank you so much, Bill!
Almost all of my pictures are created in (and maybe even by) the great state of Illinois. Thanks for noticing the narrative elements, too.

I originally had your name transposed wrong! “DBW”–that was a new mistake on my part.
Your images are stunning. The use of light and even distortion are brilliant.
The lines are of equal high quality.
No voice speaks more clearly than that of the damned! That is true, began with Christs “damnation” by the secular authority.

No problem about the name, I answer to anything when I answer at all, and you I always answer!
I didn’t get a “smart” phone until 2021 (I had a simple cell phone before that, starting in 2012) and I suddenly realized that the phone itself is not evil. It’s all in how you use it, and perhaps we all still have that little thing called “free will.” For those worried about the surveillance, leave your phone at home and they can’t track you! They will actually think you are in one place when in reality you are somewhere else, which can be a beautiful thing.
And Leila, thanks for noticing (and knowing) that the distortions and so forth are not simply mistakes. This is a HUGE issue for me.

PS
The inspiration for the text of this poem arose when I suddenly realized that the Earth probably knows when the Sun will die…or maybe it does…

Hi Dale
Your use to distortion in the past has been well done and it consistently creates the “brainquakes” people experience. I hope no one thinks they are flubs. I doubt it, this is a bright group.

Hi Dale
I liked how your photography went so well with the prose.
THE SILENT SOUND OF THE SUN’S CENTER this line really captured my attention. The alliteration is nicely done.
IN THEIR OWN PRIVATE INFERNOES so true of people!

Yes indeed, I feel like some of my pictures are adjuncts or “illustrations” for the text. Other pictures are stand-alone works. And in other cases, the pictures are wedded to the text not as adjuncts; instead they are definitely and directly part of the work itself. The difference is subtle, cared about by very few, and ALL IMPORTANT to yours truly. So thanks for seeing AND saying so (as always)!….Hope you’re doing well.
