Happy September From Saragun Springs

Happy Labor Day to the USA (my first since retirement)

As always we in the Springs aim to fill every day of the month with poetry, stories, art and the weekly Sunday column by our beloved co-Editor The Drifter (and the odd imitations of such contributed by The Saragun Gazette). This week is full, but we have plenty of room to share things written by others who have contributed previously or who are new.

At first it was a week offered, but we can also do single days as well. And as autumn draws nearer with its omnipresent scent of pumpkin spice, as Christmas creeps into retail establishments the same way gold is edging maple leaves (but greeted by different degrees of patience and pleasure), the Springs is planning to become just as inescapable as death. So with that cheery thought in mind, welcome to September, one and all.

    AND perfectly made!

    It captures his essence so well, and is so well-done as a drawing that this single piece catapults its creator into Thurberesque realms.

    On this autumn-soon holiday of rest from labor, I too invite Saragun friends and artists of the word or the special, chosen image to submit works for a week or single days. To anyone reading this who’s thinking of doing so, I say, DO IT!

    You will get in on the ground floor of something that’s gonna be around for a very long time. And that will increase your glory manifold amounts or more than manifold amounts which is a whole lot.

    I once had a friend who told me she was a cheerleader in high school. When I asked her why, she said, “For the glory.”

    I’ve never been a cheerleader and neither was she after one season. But those three words have always stuck with me.

    There’s no better reason to do anything. Not for the vanity, not for the greed, not for the narcissistic tendencies – but for the glory.

    Take a chance on Saragun Springs and yours will be increased, of this I can assure you!

    If your role is to remain in shadows reading, thinking, and appreciating this most special of sites, the same kind of glory falls on your head and is even now doing so…..

  5. Dale – I lost Dark Dossier and Sirens Call a few months ago. Had so many sci fi and horror on those two. Moving things to World of Myth slowly which will then likely shut down. Of something like 900 stories which have been published maybe a quarter are defunct. Running hard to stay even.

    I’m fortunate that I can replace writing with sleeping and ivy removal. Both lifetime jobs, could last another month.

        Two questions –

        Are you referring specifically to those lost to Sirens Call and Dark Dossier, and does it matter if those were all genre -sci fi or horror?

        Clarification – the 900 or so “stories” I referenced should be publications. That is, if “Marriage” is published three times, my count is three.

      Sci fi or horror are fine, it’s quality over genre that’s important! I’d say choose whatever six pieces you most want to resurrect at this point and send those, or maybe group them into some sort of a theme.

      Looking forward to seeing whatever you decide to send.

      900 is still an impressive number even if that counts reprints, etc!
