You ask why I love alfalfa and hay,
Apples, celery, barley and salt lick;
Peas, carrots and the darling legumes of May
But ne’er nasty corn dogs on a stick
*
I’ve heard all the rumors about my breed
We eat tin cans and other vile stuff
Let me set you straight our food is from seed
As you are what you eat, talking cheese puff
*
Bean sprouts singly sing a beckoning song
But not for humans who store them dumbly
We Goats wonder how you get them so wrong
E coli from shoots? the heart beats glumly
*
My fey sonnet began with a question
The answer is natural selection

When the Moving Hoof takes aim at the foibles and failings of modern humankind, a new kind of justice seems brought to the world.
Rarely (if ever) has there been a Goat this sure of herself in terms of original rhymes and poetic rhythms that truly sing while dismantling (gently) the human race’s illusions about itself in all their obtuseness and irritating prevalence.
America, the Land of the Talking Cheese Puff, sees itself as in a mirror here. And the Corn Dog takes its place among the great cuisines of the world. Take that, France and China! (And, we also invented Micky D’s, where French Fries are the vegetable and the sugar in the coke makes you crave the fat in the cheeseburger.)
“The Drifter”
PS,
I recently heard a you tube commenter say, “If America had to defend itself from the likes of Hitler again, I don’t think they’re in good enough shape to do it this time.” That’s nothing against the military but the rest of the citizenry might give this some thought in between cheese puff chompings…

Hello Drifter
Dai–The Moving Hoof thanks you, as do I.
The YouTuber might be right. It amazes that somebody as clearly rotten as Hitler still has a stunning amount of supporters.
Although it was well before my time, the lack of information made it easier to “convey” him.
Thanks again!
Leila
And to all, remember the Drifter will be here again tomorrow!

Oh yes, she is up to something. For that I am grateful, but also a tiny bit dubious.
Thank you Diane!

To get political, if there is natural selection how is there a Trump?

Hi Doug
I think the Orange proves The Hoof’s point as far as her species goes.
Thank you!
