i
a comet entered the saragun blue
why it had come to us nobody knew
the billigits flew on up to meet it
no worries just to say how do ya do
ii
it turned out not to be a comet stray
but willie the donkey lighting hairspray
a match the can and the odd desire
to be a painful ass made his dayly day
iii
now willie you will never come to good
burning a hole in ozone like a hood
he smiled his smiley smile and winked
i am young thus always misunderstood
iv
you see nothing is noticed til it goes wrong
like a sour note in a sweet old song
i have come to protest lazy nature
for not making the sky aquanet strong
Hilarious. These kids eh! I have to say though, and I’ve said it before, things are getting very hairy around the springs (hahahaha – see what I did there)

For reasons I do and don’t understand, this section of the poem compels Myself to quote a small section of another poem:
“Sweet, sweet, sweet, O Pan! / Piercing sweet by the river! / Blinding sweet, O great god Pan! / The sun on the hill forgot to die, / And the lilies revived, and the dragon-fly / Came back to dream on the river.” – ELIZABETH BARRET BROWNING

Hi Dale
Thank you. Any time one can make someone think of Browning is a prideful thing.
After the first 25 parts conclude this month come July will begin another Rubaiyat but this time in the preferred AABB or ABAB format.
Thank you once more!

Holy sh-t and OMG!!! This reinvention of rubaiyat and rhyme is the greatest thing in American poetry since Buk reinvented free verse, half drunk in his modest, isolated, West Coast room at night and with Beethoven blasting on the radio!
Another one in July!!! Hooray!!!
I’m looking forward to all of the above more than I would a Bob Dylan concert, and you know how I feel about him (sorry Bob, I still love ya). I love summer (I love all the seasons) and can’t wait for this one…
I only tell the truth about these types of things. If anyone knows about a better Poetic Experiment in English going on right now than these rubaiyat, I want to see it! There are quatrains and sections of quatrains in this thing that will live as long as people read good poetry in English…..and the whole things in their entirety will also be around….
Rock on, Leila! Thanks for letting me know!! Edward FitzGerald and Omar K are rolling over in their graves, but with happy laughter!

Hi Dale
Thank you–I don’t know about newness, but I find that I enjoy putting these together. Can’t write something that doesn’t engage me. A lot of my ideas fail to connect with me, this one does. So, I will go with it until it wears me out.
Thanks again!
