(translated by daisy kloverleaf)

i

willie the donkey was an assassin

of character it was his lone passion

he trolled online like a little bastard

til his email was hacked by a russian

ii

willie sang a new song that daily day

he was kind and as sweet as springtime hay

he played the role of the smiling ass

but someone was going to soon pay

iii

willie wandered the backrooms of the net

seeking the russian who owed him the debt

willie found the creep hidingly hiding

he asked to be friends Willie said nyet

iv

our magic donkey has learned a lesson

from bad guy to good and such a blessin’

willie just smiles and shines us on

over alfalfa with russian dressin

Jorge Luis Borges said: “A pantheistic God who is also the universe, a God who is every one of his creatures and the destiny of those creatures, may be a heresy and an error if we apply it to reality; but it is indisputable when applied to the poet and his work. The poet is each one of the fictive creations in his world, every breath and every detail. One of his tasks, and not the easiest of them, is to hide or disguise this omnipresence.”

(Borges also meant “she” when he said “he,” where that applies.)

I mention this quote because you, as author, are a master of this art of disguise! This sleight-of-hand becomes apparent, or rather remains invisible, in “part eight.”

And this is just one reason why the true study of Literature remains a life-long topic so complicated and deep at the highest level that it makes theoretical physics look like child’s play in a sand box. We haven’t even come close to understanding the human mind, not to mention the heart, the soul, or what it really means to be a human being.

You are truly the creator of your own universe which explores the Universe, AND has fun while doing it, which is also indispensable to Literature at the Highest Levels (and maybe just one reason why being High sometimes helps…)…Rumi called it “divine play.”

PS, And another reason why Borges sometimes called Literature “The Labyrinth and the Mirror”…

    • Hi Dale

Borges is one of those writers I was ignorant of but heard so many quality minds extoll, that I had to check him out. Everyone was right, brilliant.

You do him and others a great service by keeping their spirits alive. You motivate others to seek stuff they would not normally read!
