There’s nothing wrong with me
that death won’t cure
so why not live forever free
from crippling pressure.
Stand up to those who would oppress,
don’t give the oligarchs what they want,
return with interest our distress
like Groucho meted out to Ms. Dumont.
I like the message involved in the verse.
A poetic call to action.
Good logic here–fight back.
Reminds me of E. Dickinson’s famous, “Because I could not stop for death.”

Wonderful sentiment. As Groucho said “Whatever it it I’m against it.”

This poem uses wit to fend off the melancholia of modernity and mortality, and by
“wit” here I mean the word in its original, deeper form and not the shallower, sillier, contemporary version of this word. It’s also a great contrast, in a good way, with your recent painting poems which we’re also privileged to bring out. Thanks for sending your work to the Springs!
